Title - On Film: 1st August 1915
Border

The Accrington Pals were filmed on 14th December 1915 while practising their final departure from Hurdcott Camp.1 Unfortunately the battalion lost its way, and the planned 3-mile march was extended to one of nine or ten miles!2 The film can be seen in full as the first of two films of the battalion hosted on the Imperial War Museum Film Archive.

Notes

  1. The introduction to the film is misleading in stating that it shows the battalion leaving for active service. The Pals left Hurdcott Camp for the final time well after darkness fell on the night of 18th/19th December (Accrington Gazette, Saturday 25th December 1915, page 5).
